Attraction

Like its larger urban counterparts, the city of Raleigh is home to a number of great attractions. The Alltel Pavilion at Walnut Creek is host to numerous top-name acts during the year. Visitors and residents can also enjoy Horseshoe Farm Park, located along the Neuse River, or spend an afternoon traversing the beautiful green trails of the Durant Nature Park. The park hosts more than five miles of trials, perfect for walking or jogging and you can spend an afternoon on the veranda of the Campbell Lodge, watching ducks and kingfishers on the lake.

The city of Raleigh enjoys a long, illustrious history, a fact which is illustrated by the number of historical sites in the city and the surrounding area. For instance, visitors and residents can learn about the region’s transportation history, when they visit the N.C. Railroad Museum. The museum also hosts special holiday train rides, such as the eerie ‘Halloween Express’ and the ‘Christmas Train’ in December.

The Page-Walker Arts and History Center is also well worth a visit. A mid-nineteenth century hotel built for passengers travelling the Chatham and Seaboard Railroad, the hotel now serves as a museum. It is open to the public for tours and special events.
